I am a Lecturer in Physical Geography at Durham University in the UK.

My hands pick through all sorts of soils and sediments (peat, lakes, marshes) to look at the evolution in mossy plants and geochemistry over time – studying past climate changes can help us to predict how our environment will change in the future. Sphagnum moss is the amazing building block of northern peatlands.
