These hands were born in India alongside so many others….
These hands were born protected with opportunities…
These hands have travelled and found their home in Canada…
These hands have worked alongside so many others towards equity and equality on intersections of vulnerability…
These hands have nursed an aging parent and buried the ashes…
These hands plant, these hands cook and clean, and nurture children…
These hands love.
These hands are arthritic, and resilient in the face of peripheral neuropathy and affectations.
This painting is of my right hand.
My right hand cuts, pastes, paints and draws, voicing emotions, thoughts, ideas, and the ephemeral.
My right hand compensates for my left, because it must.
My right hand clutches the hiking pole to stabilize and keep me moving.
